How to Claim the Kerala Lottery Prize?  (What are the Procedures for Claiming the Lottery Prize?)

The prize-winning lottery ticket must be surrendered before the Director of State Lotteries, within 30 days of the draw with all necessary documents. Prizes, up to Rs. 1Lakh may be claimed from the District Lottery Offices concerned. Prize-winning tickets, above Rs.1 Lakh, shall be surrendered before the Director of State Lotteries with the signature, name, and address of the prize winner on the back side of the tickets with the necessary documents. Claims on mutilated or tampered tickets will be rejected outright. The prize winners from outside the state of Kerala should present their prize claim of Rs.1,00,000/- and above before the Director of State Lotteries with all the necessary document


Documents required:

 

  • To prove your claim, write your name, address, and sign on the back of the lottery ticket.

  • A claim form and a self-attested Photostat copy of the ticket’s front and back.

  • Two photographs (passport size) of the prize-winner officially verified by a Gazetted Officer/Notary.

  • An official prize money receipt in the required format bearing the winner’s full address and a revenue stamp for ₹1.

  • Guardianship certification from a reputable agency is required if the award recipient is a minor.

  • In the event of joint claims, one of the award winners must be permitted to receive the winnings, and a “Joint Declaration” on stamp paper costing ₹ 50 must be filed.

  • Pan card copy that has been self-attested.

  • Valid identification proof includes a photocopy of a Ration Card(self-attested), Driving License, Election ID Card, Passport, or any other document.




If the prize is ₹5000 or less, every Kerala lottery Prize dealer can accept the lottery ticket and provide the sum instantly.


What is the consolation prize in the Kerala lottery?

A lottery ticket comes with a two-letter serial number and a six-digit number. A ticket is considered a winning ticket only if the ticket’s two-letter serial number and the six-digit number match the ones published in the gazette. If your ticket matches only with the winning number and not the two-letter serial number then you are eligible for a small amount of money called a consolation prize. This amount is generally mentioned in the result chart.

A 30% income tax and 10% agent commission are deducted from the total price money before the winnings are given to the prize winner.  In addition to 30% tax as per the IT Act, 1961 there is also a CESS charge of 4%. Thus, the effective tax rate is 31.2%. Prizes exceeding Rs. 10,000 are subject to TDS @31.2% under section 194B. The tax CESS and agent commission altogether may come to approximately 12 crores.
